As per documents on hand a deed of donation was executed between the NHA ( National Housing Authority) then PHHC (Philippine Homesite and Housing Corporations) and the Quezon City Government donating a 29,969.5 square meters as site of Pura V. Kalaw and Belarmino Elementary School.
So it was presumed that the lot was owned by the PHHC/ NHA before it was officially donated to the Quezon City Government with Brigido Simon Jr. a City Mayor in July 31, 1989. (See attached Deed of Donation and Pura V. Kalaw History)
Since then, Pura V. Kalaw Elementary School has gained its present status of standardized institution of learning with outstanding academic achievement.
With the non-stop growing population of the community and nearby barangays, the school correspondingly expanded and more pressing need for additional school correspondingly expanded and a more pressing need for additional school buildings came to form. To date, the almost 2,330 pupils are housed in five buildings.
Pura V. Kalaw Elementary School didn’t only progress in population but also gained prominence in the different areas academically and physically under the dedicated leadership of MRS. WILMA C. MASIGAN, Principal III and full commitment of 64 teachers and 12 non-teaching personnel
Pura V. Kalaw Elementary School was named after, then Ms. Purita Villanueva a beauty queen who captured the heart of Teodoro Kalaw a journalist, historian and a statesman.
Purita “Pura” Villanueva Kalaw was an active civic leader, philanthropist and successful businesswoman at the time of her death on March 21, 1954, she was then 67.
Historical facts could not establish data on whether Pura Kalaw or her family owned the lot where Pura V. Kalaw Elementary School is built on, however her being a philanthropist could conclude that construction of old Administration building was probably thus her initiative and that at the time of its completion in 1958 the school was name after her.
